  • XML

Extensible Markup Language (XML ) is a machine and human readable document markup standard for describing and exchanging structured data using embedded tags.

Unlike other markup languages as HTML, XML does not describe how to display its content. It rather defines the type and structure of the data it contains. This makes XML independent of applications or vendors and an ideal standard for storing or exchanging data over networks and the Web.
